Lesson 11b: How to Create Call-To-Actions (CTAs) in HubSpot

CTAs are a tool in HubSpot. You use CTAs to create buttons, banners, or pop-ups to add to your HubSpot pages and attract new visitors. You can also add CTAs to external pages.

Where to Find CTAs

  • Go to Marketing > Lead Capture > CTAs.
  • Click Create (or the big "Get Started" button if you haven’t made any yet).

Choosing a Template

You can:

  • Create a CTA from scratch

  • Use HubSpot templates (like event promos, lead capture, or simple text CTAs)

Creating a CTA from Scratch

Let’s create a pop-up box for the website.

Editing the Layout

  • On the left panel under the Add tab, drag and drop modules like buttons, images, or text

  • Add a button or keep the one from the template

  • Add an image from your library or upload one

  • Link your image or button to a contact page or another destination

Styling Your CTA

Go to the Styles tab to:

  • Adjust spacing and padding

  • Set layout and sizing

  • Choose background color or image

Targeting Options

Before setting this up, don’t forget to name your CTA (e.g., “Testing CTA”).

Trigger Rules

Choose when your CTA shows up:

  • Scroll percentage

  • Exit intent (when someone’s about to leave)

  • Elapsed time (e.g., after 10 seconds)

  • Inactivity

Target Audience

Pick which pages the CTA should show up on:

  • All pages

  • Pages that start with a specific URL

Then choose who sees it:

  • All visitors

  • Filtered visitors (like by country, device type, or HubSpot lists)

You can also add exclusion rules.

Frequency

Set how often the CTA will appear:

  • Once every few days, weeks, or months

Final Settings and Publishing

Go to the Options tab to:

  • Schedule the CTA for later

  • Publish it immediately

  • Set a specific date and time

After reviewing and previewing your CTA:

  • Click Back

  • Hit Publish or Schedule
